This is an education for students interested in evolutionary and ecological processes at the level of genes, individuals and populations of animals. At the Department of Biology, you will meet teachers who are also researchers in our excellent scientific environment. The research areas stretch from disease resistance in natural populations, host-parasite interactions, diversification dynamics of life throughout evolutionary history, how birds and other animals have adapted to migrate and navigate, evolutionary processes that generate biodiversity, to physiological and ecological mechanisms affecting the balance between reproduction and survival. The programme provides a solid ground for PhD studies but also for employment within consultancy and the public sector.

The general Master’s programme in Biology gives you an opportunity to design a personal study plan. We offer a broad range of courses covering subjects from cell and molecular biology and structure and function to evolution and ecology.
